Please find below the latest update on Waterloo Region's food system as

1. City of Waterloo to vote Monday night on proposed By-Law permitting
urban chickens
Waterloo City Council will consider a new By-Law which would permit up to
ten hens on urban properties, subject to various regulations governing size
and location of chicken coops, disposal of wastes, etc.  The meeting to
consider the proposal will take place Monday, April 6, 2009, at 6:30pm in
the Council Chambers at 100 Regina St S, Waterloo.  To view the staff

2. Local Food Buying Club seeking members
With one year of experience under its belt, Bailey's Local Foods is
recruiting members for its Local Food Buying Club for 2009.  Customers can
order food products online weekly from a variety of local farmers and pick
them up on Friday afternoons at First United Church in Waterloo.  The
business owner is Nina Bailey-Dick, whose profile you can find on the

Ontario's Test Kitchens - April 19-20, Toronto - speakers, panels, and the
grand opening of the STOP Community Centre's Green Barn
Earth Day Gala dinner - April 23, 6pm, Walper Terrace, Kitchener - hosted
by Foodlink Waterloo Region and Waterloo Chefs' Association
