Please find below the latest update on Waterloo Region's food system as
described on the website of the Waterloo Region Food System Roundtable at
www.wrfoodsystem.ca.
1. New Assessment of Downtown Kitchener Food Environment
The Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre is undertaking an assessment
of the food environment in downtown Kitchener. The assessement is a
follow-up to a 2003 study which found the area lacking in adequate sources
of quality food for this neighbourhood, particularly for seniors and
low-income residents. The team of McMaster University students conducting
the study expect to have their report ready by early April. For more
details, see
