Please find below the latest update on Waterloo Region's food system as
described on the website of the Waterloo Region Food System Roundtable at
www.wrfoodsystem.ca.
1. A Defence of Canada's pending new Organic Standards
Roundtable member Krista Long has posted a response to my posting about a
Mother Jones article on organics and the future of sustainable food. It
contains some excellent points worth considering! See
http://www.wrfoodsystem.ca/index.php?p=forum/view_thread&thread_id=10217
2. Kitchener Report on Food Access released
A study commissioned by a Seniors' Group affiliated with the Kitchener
Downtown Community Health Centre has found the area lacking in accessible
sources of food and is calling for efforts to attract an affordable and
accessible grocery store downtown. See
http://www.wrfoodsystem.ca/index.php?p=forum/view_thread&thread_id=10232
3. Upcoming Food Events
Full details on upcoming food-related events in Waterloo Region can be
