Ontario's Good Food Map
Sustain Ontario has produced a graphical representation of its recently-released discussion papers on the the state of the province's food system. The Good Food Map features the 10 Good Food Ideas from Sustain's Menu 2020 and provides links to further information on those ideas and more. See http://sustainontario.com/OntarioGoodFoodMap.html.
Municipal Elections Toolkit on Food Issues
Sustain Ontario has created a toolkit for voters to pressure municipal electoral candidates to make healthy, local, sustainable food a municipal election priority. Voters can use the toolkit to engage with candidates to ensure that farm and food issues are part of their election platforms. The Municipal Elections Toolkit<http://sustainontario.com/initiatives/municipal-elections-2010> outlines priority farm and food issues, and provides some helpful hints for organizing events and meetings with elections candidates.
Anita Stewart's Food Day 2010
Canadian celebrity chef Anita Steward is organizing the eighth annual Food Day, which is taking place this Saturday, July 31, at public events and private barbeques across the country. The idea is to celebrate our regional diversity, culinary creativity and local food by getting people together to cook and eat, and tell stories of your get-togethers on the Food Day website. See details at http://foodday.ca.
Garden Coordinators Wanted
KW Urban Harvester is lookng for two new coordinators to start this October. One coordinator for the Sharing Backyards program - this means updating the website<http://kw-uh.wikidot.com/>, printing out pamphlets, distributing them at different events and just getting the word out. The second coordinator would be the garden coordinator - organizing it as a community garden (either collectively or with private plots), and doing outreach to get people to come garden. If you are interested, please e-mail Chaylene at kwurbanharvester at gmail.com<mailto:kwurbanharvester at gmail.com> . Each coordinator position would go for one full year. This is flexible if need be. No experience needed.
