1. Vote for Farmer Education
Petersburg organic farmer Linda Laepple is pitching a proposal for a Agricultural Trade School as a response to the decline in family farms and skilled farm labour. You can help advocate for the proposal to be funded by the Aviva Community Fund by voting on their website. For details, see blog post.
2. Stemmler Meats Wins Top Processor Award
Stemmler Meats, a mainstay at the St Jacobs Farmers’ Market, has been named to Canada’s Top 100 List of Food and Beverage Processors. For details, see Roundtable blog post.
3. HungerCount 2011
Food Banks Canada released HungerCount 2011 On November 1st. This March, Waterloo Region experienced a five percent increase in food hamper distribution from the same time last year. For details, see blog post by Roundtable member Diana Bumstead.
4. Farmers Support Wheat Board
